Bombay Hook
was the least
productive of the three sites visited on my trip. On past trips
I've seen this place literally filled with birds; there seems to be a
lot of seasonal variability in its birdiness. The low light and
very strong winds made it very difficult to obtain any good images.
In winter this site sometimes attracts thousands of Snow Geese; during
my visit there were at most a few hundred:
A flock of Avocets arrived shortly after I did:
Northern Harriers tend to be common here in winter, and I had hoped to
collect some good images of them, but was only able to get these
marginal shots:
The few other species observed during my very brief stay at this site
(roughly two hours) included egrets:
gulls:
and a couple ducks and coots:
